Data Deletion Policy

1. Introduction
At Habarana Elephant Safari, we respect your privacy and provide you with the ability to delete your account and associated data at any time. This policy outlines how you can request data deletion and what happens once the request is processed.
2. How to Request Account Deletion
There are two primary ways to request the deletion of your account and personal data:
Option A: Via the Dashboard (Recommended)
- Log in to your account at habaranaelephantsafari.com/login.
- Navigate to your Profile Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger Zone section at the bottom.
- Click on Delete My Account.
- Confirm your choice. Your account will be immediately deactivated and scheduled for permanent deletion.
Option B: Email Request
If you cannot access your account, you can send a formal data deletion request to: help@habaranaelephantsafari.com
Please include the following information in your email:
- Your full name
- The email address associated with your account
- A clear statement requesting the permanent deletion of your account and data.
3. Data That Will Be Deleted
Upon a successful deletion request, we will permanently remove the following information from our active databases:
- Your personal profile information (Name, Phone, Address, Bio).
- Your login credentials and authentication records.
- Your saved preferences and notification settings.
4. Data That May Be Retained
Please note that we are legally required to retain certain information for financial, tax, or legal compliance reasons, even after an account deletion request. This includes:
- Booking Records: Information related to completed tours, payments, and invoices must be kept for a period of up to 7 years to comply with Sri Lankan tax and auditing regulations.
- Security Logs: IP addresses and activity logs related to security incidents may be retained temporarily to prevent fraud.
5. Timeline for Deletion
Once a request is made, your profile will be hidden from all systems immediately. Permanent deletion of data from our backup systems may take up to 30 days to complete.
6. Impact of Deletion
Deleting your account is a permanent action. Once completed:
- You will lose access to your booking history.
- Any active reward points or loyalty benefits will be forfeited.
- You will need to create a new account if you wish to use our services again in the future.
